1. 戦時中の黒い漆喰

「黒く塗られた白壁 ― 空襲に備えた家の記憶」

ここは富山県氷見の実家です。

昭和12年生まれの父は、戦時中に対岸の富山市が空襲で真っ赤に燃える様子を見ていたと語っていました。

人々は空からの爆撃を恐れ、白い漆喰壁を黒く塗って目立たないようにしていたそうです。

そして今回、奇跡的に発見された戦前・戦中の古い写真により、この黒い煤が意図的に塗られていた防空対策だったことが明らかになりました。

その痕跡が、今も屋根の一部に残っています。静かに戦争の記憶を伝える家です。

“The Blackened Wall: A Home’s Silent Memory of War”

This is my family home in Himi, Toyama, Japan.

 My father, born in 1937, once described seeing Toyama City across the bay engulfed in flames during the air raids of WWII.

To avoid becoming targets, people blackened their white plaster walls to blend into the darkness.

Recently, by a miracle, we discovered wartime photos of our home—proving that the black soot was intentionally applied as an air raid precaution.

Traces of that blackened wall still remain on the roof today, telling a quiet story of war and survival.

2. 門中の戸室石

長年、濵元家の出入りを見守ってきた門柱を調査すると、使用されている石材は、金沢城の石垣や本多家にも使われる戸室石の可能性がわかった。今は石材として入手も難しくなっている戸室石。赤戸室石と青戸室石のコントラストがとても美しく残っている。

この門柱にも、加賀藩・前田家の文化の流れが息づいているのかもしれません。

I  took a closer look at the gate pillars that have long stood watch over the Hamamoto residencI took a closer look at the gate pillars that have long stood watch over the Hamamoto residence.

The stone appears to be Tomuro stone, also used in the stone walls of Kanazawa Castle and at Kanazawa University.

You can clearly see the contrast between red and blue Tomuro stones, formed from lava 400,000–600,000 years ago.

Even in these gate pillars, you can feel the cultural legacy of the Kaga Maeda clan and the history of Kanazawa.
